NOTE:
  • Put on gloves to protect your hands.
  • Take care not to scratch the body.
  1. Remove these items:
  1. From inside the tailgate, remove the bolt securing the rear license trim.

  1. Pull out the rear license trim (A) to detach the pins (B) of the clips from the grommets (C), then remove the trim from the tailgate.
  1. Using snap ring pliers, remove the grommets from the tailgate.
  1. Check if the grommets and pins are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace grommets and pins as an assembly with new ones.
  1. Install the grommets on the pins by pushing them into place.
  1. Install the trim in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
    • Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones.
    • Do not roll up the lip (D) of the rear window rubber dam. If necessary for proper attachment, set a plastic plate between the lip and the trim. Install the top edge of the trim while sliding a plastic plate sideward. Be careful not to cut the lip.
    • Push the clips into place securely.
