Headlight Leveling Motor Input Test

NOTE: Before input test, check the No. 5 (10 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Disconnect the 3P connector (A) from the headlight leveling motor (B).
  1. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact.
    • If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system.
    • If the terminals are OK, go to Step 4 .
  1. With the connector still disconnected, make these input tests at the connector.

    • Faulty headlight leveling control unit

    • An open in the wire

    Ignition switch ON (II)
    Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
    • Faulty headlight leveling control unit
    • An open in the wire
    LT GRN *2
    Ignition switch ON (II)
    Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
    An open in the wire

    LT BLU *1
    Ignition switch ON (II)
    Measure the voltage to ground: There should be about 3−13 V.
    • Faulty headlight leveling control unit
    • An open in the wire
    PUR *2
    Headlight leveling switch in 3 position
    Measure the resistance between the No. 2 terminal and body ground: There should be about 2.9 kΩ [3.1 kΩ].
    • Poor ground (G501)
    • Faulty headlight leveling switch
    • An open in the wire
